"I will study and prepare and I know my opportunity will come". Abraham Lincoln. It is better to personalise it, "self-preparation". Self-preparation means you have identified your dreams, you have set goals and ready to make yourself better. 
Self-preparation is deliberate, intentional and quality investment put into your life. To be an expert in a field of endeavour, preparation can't be ruled out. Opportunity will come knocking. You can only maximise every opportunity by preparation. Those who maximise opportunity are those who are awake. Those who are asleep, opportunity will only pass them by.
Preparation isn't convenient. It may require sacrifice. For me it is not the reward but who you become. When you prepare, you ooze with confidence and celebrated by people. Again, I will prepare and study and I know my opportunity will come. Abraham Lincoln.
